Sunday 2 September: Deuteronomy 4:1-2, 6-9 and Mark 7: selected verses.
September is the month for Polwarth’s annual Stewardship Season. This year Jack is using each week to speak of God’s gifts to us and our responsibility to use these gifts appropriately. For the first week God’s gift is LIFE, the Creation, and our responsibility is to care for the creation.
Holding to the lectionary readings for the Twenty- Second Week in Ordinary Time, Jack shows how the ability to respond positively to God’s will is by God’s action of giving us a new heart. He does so by showing how the Torah, the manual for LIFE, was a gift that could not be fully utilised until the external word written on stone and paper was transformed into the internal word written on the human heart.
