Great Response to the Israel/Palestine Event at Polwarth

On Tuesday, 14 August at 7.30pm, on behalf of the Presbytery of Edinburgh, Polwarth Church hosted:

An opportunity to watch, listen and discuss the historic and present situation between Israel and Palestine.

The evening consisted of a showing a film documentary called BETWEEN THE LINES: Life for Israel & Palestine 100 years after the Balfour Declaration which was made by the Rev Dr Grant Barclay who visited the area over a three month period last year. This will be followed by FIRST IMPRESSIONS: living in Palestine and working in Jerusalem a verbal presentation by the Rev Dr John McCulloch, minister at St Andrew’s Kirk in Jerusalem, and living  near Bethlehem with his wife and young family, and Mission Partner to the Presbytery of Edinburgh.

110 people attended the event including the Moderator of the General Assembly,  members of staff from the World Mission Council of the Church of Scotland, and representatives of different denominations and congregations. The film and presentation were well received and inspired a thoughtful Q&A session after some refreshments had been served. Our thanks to Audrey and Morag for cheerfully serving a much bigger audience than we anticipated.
